Cranleigh Business Recycling Scheme

15 Jan 2009

As part of our commitment to reduce our carbon footprint Cranleigh Recruitment Solutions has been an active participant in the Cranleigh Business Recycling scheme set up by Julia Brown of Green Office Consulting.  The scheme has been running for just over a year and during that time businesses in Cranleigh have helped to divert 40 tonnes of waste away from landfill to recycling.

Recycling one tonne of paper saves enough energy to run an average 3 bedroomed house for a year – so following that example Cranleigh businesses have saved enough energy to run 40 such houses for a year.

Others equate one tonne of paper recycled to saving 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil and 7,000 gallons of water – so that would mean Cranleigh businesses saved 680 trees, 15,200 gallons of oil and 280,000 gallons of water!

Garry Emmett (Partner) of Cranleigh Recruitment Solutions commented: “I am very happy to recommend Julia and her company in the recycling arena. She has provided an excellent recycling solution to our office waste and her services are conducted in a professional and friendly way and I would recommend her services to businesses that are looking to take on the challenge of helping to create a more sustainable and green environment”.

Julia went on to say ‘I’m delighted that it has been such a big success. However, there are still a number of businesses who have not yet taken that first step and we hope that this will encourage them to have a go.  My clients are often pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to participate in the scheme and very often find that recycling costs less than their normal waste disposal charges
