Rowing Adventure update

12 Jan 2010

After nearly a month of delays due to adverse weather conditions, Chris and Joe finally began their epic challenge to row across the Atlantic on January 4th.

Their most recent updates are posted below and their progress can be followed on their website - http://www.rowingadventure.co.uk

All of us at Cranleigh Scientific are following Chris and Joe's adventure with interest and wish them a safe and successful journey (see News Item posted 10th October 09)

We have just finished 24 hours of hard rowing with a following sea and wind, we managed to go 62 miles. This latest serge has put us in a position to gain some miles with the forward race pack. The hunt is on. However there is always a bit of time for some site seeing, at 9:00 this morning a pod of whales popped up for a look only 10 meters from us. Amazing.

“The weather conditions have picked up dramatically over the past 24 hours. Which is really good as it is the best time to deal with some serious issue. Yesterday we found one of our battery’s swimming in muddy brown water. I had my head buried in electric trying to rewire and resolve. All sorted now. We just have to be very careful about how we use it. A large tanker went by last night at about 3am. It was really something to behold.
