It was encouraging to hear the Chancellor’s latest enouncement at the 2011 Conservative Party Conference that the beleaguered UK economy could be helped on the path to recovery partly through increased financial stimulus to the UK’s science industry. Indeed the Chancellor, whilst recognising that cuts and efficiency drives would be necessary in other areas of the economy and governmental spending, outlined that £200 million would be set aside for the UK’s Science industry. http://tgr.ph/oO1pFl
Let’s hope that the coalition government continue to recognise the important part that science can play in helping the UK towards economic recovery, and in particular the need to retain the standard of excellence that the UK holds with regards to global scientific Research & Development.
